Welcome Home Minerva McGonagall

So... tonight, my best friend and I were going for a walk and I was really peeved. I'd gotten into it with the spousal unit over dinner and we'd both stormed off in a huff. Best friend and I get to the edge of the Rec. Area where we walk and my knee starts to throb. We decide to head back because we've walked pretty far and it's getting dark. At the bridge, we stop to admire the moon, which is halfway to full and looking orange and beautiful in the sky. All of the sudden we see a little animal coming toward us. Is it a cat or a skunk, we debate. I call out, "here kitty kitty kitty..." she comes running. S he goes down into the creek trying to get to us so i walked out to the edge and called her again. She ran right into my arms. The poor girl is just a baby and half-starved. You could floss your teeth with her she's so skinny. I petted her and loved her, she started purring like mad. She crawled up on my shoulders and circled around back into my arms. I put her down and we start to walk, she follows and climbs up my pants mewwing and mewwing to be picked upa gain. She's barely more than a kitten, probably about 3-4 months old and she's starving. So... long story short, Jenny brought her home, husband said Awwe, kid said AWWWe, Moucifer said BOOOO HISSSS, but we're keeping the new baby on the back porch for a few days until they get used to the idea of each other. Don't want lots of catfights all night while I"m sleeping.

We named her Minerva McGonagall after the Professor that transfigures into a Tabby Cat in the harry potter stories and I've already snapped off half a roll of film full of pictures of her. They should be developed by this weekend. She's beautiful and already very happy with us. Everyone please send Moucifer the love your new baby sister vibes, because she is very jealous and does not play well with others EVER!

She and Moucifer are totally different energy wise. She's very lovable and cuddly and Moucifer was never like that. Every time I come in from petting her, I let M sniff my hands and a few times she's hissed at me, batted at me, and then done that low growl we all love when our cats do it. She knows there's someone out on the porch. A couple of times she's gone right to the door and listened while little Minerva (dev keeps calling her Minicat cos she's so small and she keeps forgetting Minerva,) scratches and mews at the door for me.

Oh, she's just such a joy and she totally uplifted my night. I'm happy I found her because I needed someone to cuddle and love.

funny how cats appear when you need love, that's sort of what happened with my little boy...

jenny i dont want to put a downer on your bundle o'joy - but maybe you should check her for fleas and ringwormy things since she was out in the wilderness...

i'm so jealous you got a cuddly kitten!! awww, they are the bestest in the world...!! pictures pronto!!

I'm going to take her to the vet asap. Sadly, I think someone abandoned her maybe about a week ago and she's been out in the wild starving. We did check her for fleas and found nothing, but I'm going to buy her a flea collar and a cutesy little bell collar *cos I'm a dork* when Jay gets home from work today. I have already snapped off half a roll of film worth of pictures. she is beautiful! and so cuddly. *shares her with everybody*

I don't know how old she is, but I wouldn't use advantage on her until she bulks up a bit. S he's wee wee bitty baby and last night she was having a hard time crunching up catfood. I almost went wee in my pants when she used the makeshift litterbox this morning all by her little old babycat self. *is a spaz* She's a mostly black calico with bits of auburn through her fur and her face... her chin, omg, it's split in half. The first half is black the other is white and she is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CUTE!!! I will have pictures by friday. I'll probably take the whole roll of film and dedicate it to her. *sigh* I'm so excited.

*still galloping in a circle of delight*

soak the kitten chow in some warm water, or add some wet. i'll leave the nutrition advice to the resident geniuses, cuz i am lame. i just read what they post & then go do it :D

if she's already litter trained, she had a good mama cat...lucky you!

I just wonder what happeneded to her mama. I hope mama didn't get hurt. :( She's very lovey. She does that thing, crap I can't remember what it's called, where she pushes her paws on me for comfort. She's been putting them over my mouth and doing it and then nestling her head down in between my neck and shoulder and going to sleep. fate is a funny thing.

Dude, you got a badass biscuit-makin' cuddlemonster kitten! YEAH! And if she's having a hard time with kibble, she's probably a bit younger than 3-4 months old, though since we can't see her it's hard to tell :) . Anyway, if you want to, get her some wet food, it's better for kitties in general (don't believe the crapful marketing lie that's "dry food is better for dental health!" 'cause it's so not) and she'll deal with it better to boot. YAY YAY kitten! You have to post pictures soon. And chin scritches to Moucifer, she seems like a bitch who'd take no sass from nobody.

Don't worry about Moucifer; she's just letting Mini know who's boss. I bet in the future they'll be good buddies and little Mini will think of Moucifer as her mommy. That's the way Tipper and Elvis were ...

thanks for all the good advice. I so hope that MOucifer takes on the mommy roll because Minerva really wants to come inside and meet her, but Moucimeanie was standing at the door hissing right at her and they couldn't even see each other. *rolling eyes* Cats can be such bitches.

I'm going to add soft catfood to my list of stuff from the grocery store, along with toys and goodies for babies who need lots of love and attention.

Oh that's such a wonderful story! You're doing everything right--and I'd second Candy's advice about getting soft food. Also my babies loved KMR milk replacer as a snack/treat when they were kittens, so you might want to get some of that for Minerva.

Moucifer will, I am sure, calm down when she gets to know Minerva. Peeps was not at all happy with Blue when I first adopted him, but now they adore each other. It just takes time and a slow introduction--which you are doing so well.

Welcome Minerva! Peeps and Blue are hoping they'll meet you on the cat thugz, the orange wrasslers, or one of their other favorite tribes.

And I can't wait to see those photos of your dear kitten self!
