I just looked through Mymble's photo album and nearly asphyxiated. Holy fucking shit, kittens rule, especially kittens whose coloring resemble a duckling's.
I just needed to get this out of my system. I was looking through some old kitten pictures of ze and Eric, and man, they were adorable little bastids too. Michael has the only functioning scanner in the house, bitch hasn't scanned in the pictures yet. I'm-a gonna crack dat whip tonight!

Tue, August 3, 2004 - 4:21 PMI have pictures of teeny tiny Clyde on the fridge. He looks like Pigpen from the Peanuts cartoons.

Wed, August 4, 2004 - 2:33 AMPay no attention to the cuteness of those Mymble pictures! it is just a ploy to make crikey and me feel bad when we scold her! -

Re: Cute kittens
Wed, August 4, 2004 - 3:07 AMawww mymble is adorable... kittens are the best, but i like them better when they get to be about six months... i don't really like them when they are super little because they look all fluffy and ugly. when they grow up a little they look like mini cats (ok that sounds really stupid but whatever i'm going to keep on typing) and i like the mini cat idea. kind of like shetland ponies.
i'm such a bragging mother but max was cute when he was little, but he's at the age now where he is a lot older but he still has that kitteny/junior cuteness about him and i love it. his eyes are so bright and he's so alert and playful... and with that he chases snowy up the stairs again...
how come cats make so much noise when going up and down carpeted stairs...?? -

The power of mass transference
Light as a feather... when sneaking into your lap
... or appearing next to you in the kitchen
Stiff as a board... when stomping all over the house
... or walking all over you in the morning wayyyy before you are supposed to wake. -

Re: Cute kittens
Wed, August 4, 2004 - 6:16 AMthat was a good explanation.
hey do you guys sing 'jack be mymble, jack be quick' to your new little kitty...? i sing stupid songs to my cats and i just thought of that one.
i won't be too hurt if you decide to can it. -

Re: Cute kittens
Wed, August 4, 2004 - 8:13 AMdemi, i love tiny baby kittens! when they're not much more that fluff, eyes, and claws....my favorite part is that they haven't figured out how to retract the claws yet, and get stuck to the carpet like velcro...lol...then you have to detach them & they act like you saved them from godzilla.
bear & otter are 10, i was too poor back then to own a camera, so unfortunately no baby pics. ripley, tho......my house is covered with pictures of ripley. got quite a few of raven too.
when patrick & i got otter & bear, they were about 6 weeks old. at night they used to play racecar driver, & run laps around the house. usually the bed (with us sleeping in it) was one of the obstacles, and they would claw their way over us during the race. patrick (who'd never had cats before) told me to make them stop, lol. i told him it was impossible. then he said we should buy them little lead cat boots. and i told him that wouldn't stop them, just make it hurt more.

Re: Cute kittens
Fri, August 6, 2004 - 1:03 AMmymble does hurdles over kitsune's tail, which is almost as dangerous as jack hopping over a candlestick.
and now i've got that stupid rhyme in my head.
thanks a lot.

Re: Cute kittens
Wed, August 4, 2004 - 11:06 AMshe is super-adorable (except for those moments when she's hanging from the curtains, trying to swipe kitsune or bouncing off bare legs at high speed, with all her claws out) and is turning into a real sweetheart kitty...but I'm with you on the preferring smallcats to tinykittens.
She's just growing into her proper catshape and her proper catface, which I think has a lot more charm than the identikit ball of fuzz kitten style.
Mymble's the first kitten I've lived with (the other three in my life have all been adopted when older, though Zot was still a youngster at about 6 months or so) and the boundless energy and then instant deadsleep is still entertaining enough not to piss me off too much.
And Max does look/sound like a completely rocking little cat.

Re: Cute kittens
Fri, August 6, 2004 - 8:57 AMI love 'em at all sizes. Small kittens with those little comma tails, kittens with eyes that are changing colors, kittens with both sets of teeth and that double-fanged look. I'm beyond help.
When Peeps was a tiny baby, she had white downy flecks in her fur. When I get those pictures scanned (as well as her recent photos and those of the inquisitive Blue), I'll stick them in their albums.
I was looking at Mymble's kitten photos earlier today. Adorable!

Re: Cute kittens
Fri, August 6, 2004 - 9:37 AMcrikey, the boundless energy doesn't stop soon... i was worried max would have calmed down by now - and eventhough he's a big sleepybear during daylight hours, he's is up ALL NIGHT like he's hopped up on speed.
climbing the curtains is the only thing that i cannot tolerate from cats, it's super annoying especially because max used to do it when i lived in another house and he once pulled the curtains down ( I had the front room facing the street) when i was changing. and i was not amused.
cats kick doggie arse. i've been won over. although i'd love a puppydog too... and a cockatoo... and some tropical fish... and an iguana! iguanas are totally cool. -

Re: Cute kittens
Fri, August 6, 2004 - 3:51 PMMy father-in-law was here recently and he and Dave got along great. He did make a comment that made me cringe, though. "Dave is friendly 'cause he's just like a DOG. I call these cats Cat-Dogs."
Uh... now I luvvvs the doggies, but a nice kitty is still a KITTY. NOT a cat-dog. OY!
Thanks for listening, bitches.

Re: Cute kittens
Fri, August 6, 2004 - 4:11 PMI have always had cats; there's pics of me as a baby sleeping in a bassinet with my parent's Siamese, Peanuts. But now that we have the baby, my husband has puppy fever. I think we should wait until she's three years old, then I want to get a little Boston terrier or Chihuahua. Or an English bulldog. I always thought it would be funny to have a dog and name it "Dammit" so I could call "Come here, Dammit!" -
-
Re: Cute kittens
Fri, August 6, 2004 - 4:54 PMenglish bulldogs have a lot of breathing problems so be careful kim... my roomate got one and it died when it was only 3 months old because it had some kind of lung failure - but what a 20 year old who can hardly wipe her ass is doing with a dog that's worth £2000 thats a whole new story but they talk about how bulldogs are so inbred now their noses are too stubby or something - i saw a program on watchdog over here about it. maybe sam or crikey can give more info.
dammit's a great name for a dog!! like shit head!!

Re: Cute kittens
Fri, August 6, 2004 - 8:03 PMEnglish bulldogs do have respiratory problems. And skin problems. And ear problems. Chihuahuas are little shits unless you train them right. Bostons are allright too but they have ze funky skin and breathing problems too. Not as often as bulldogs I believe. But I could be wrong.
Don't get Cocker spaniels tho. They have funky everything. And they have the number one reported incidents of bites in the US. Or so I heard.

Re: Cute kittens
Sat, August 7, 2004 - 6:58 AMI just have a weakness for little dogs with smooshy noses - they're so ugly that they're cute! But realistically, any nice, smallish dog from the pound will be fine. I guess we would need to get a puppy so the catz will show it how to behave. But this won't be for a few years - it's enough work right now dealing with a 2 babies (one of them being a 35 year old man!) and 3 kitties, one which needs shots twice a day. -

Re: Cute kittens
Sat, August 7, 2004 - 2:37 PMI wanted to second the point about cocker spaniels biting. Spaniels have a tendency to bite. My friend's cocker-poodle cross, Hank, has this problem (he's cuddling by my feet right now). Although he loves cats and has always been sweet with me, I have seen him bite his Mom. You have to train them really well. Hank is in training to cure him and we're hoping he'll be all right.
And Kim, I have no idea how you do it all. You're amazing. -
