i posted this on thugz but i'll parphrase it for here.
i love mints. they are my weakness. i always have a candy dish with mints in it. max has started to steal them because he likes the plastic sound and they can be batted around like a bottletop. now i want to discourage this behaviour but it's really cute and it keeps him preoccuiped so i don't... do you guys know if him smelling or eating the mint is bad. i know he wouldn't *eat* it, but if he punctures the wrapping during play and carries it around in his mouth, i don't know are mints harmful to cats...?
he always carries the mint right to the couch and batts it under there... then he tries to reach it for about ten minutes and starts all over. i got nine mints out from under there last night when he stopped playing. he always does that with his bottletops too. at my old house when i left, i was cleaning and found about 50 (no joke) bottletops under the fridge from where he'll batt them under there (dork!).

Re: mints
Mon, August 9, 2004 - 10:11 AMCatnip is actually related to the mint family. Some cats are nuts for the mint. I know cats who would try to lick people who'd just had their teeth brushed, and who'd hijack gum.
Not that it's necessarily what Max is doing, cause it sounds like he just likes the crinkly batting potential of the sweeties. But don't worry about the mints causing any damage.
Have you tried dropping a penny on the hardwood floor and flicking it? Drives Eric BATSHIT and dude, it's a toy that costs a penny. HAR HAR HAR. -

Thu, August 12, 2004 - 9:01 AMPeeps likes Q-tips. I had to hide them after I came home one day to find her flipping them out of a box (she's not usually that good with her paws). She goes crazy when she gets given one as a treat. -

Re: mints
Fri, August 13, 2004 - 4:26 PMdental floss = string. hence, mymble is crazy for floss. she's a string fiend.
then again, i caught her eating a tomato yesterday. a slice of tomato soaked in vinegar. that cat has no brain. she's stuck in that early tigger mode, where EVERYTHING is her favourite. yes! yes! hi! hi! yes! string! cool! er. sorry. channelling the kitten again.
(god DAMN. now the little bugger has got into the bag of origami cranes i'm making...) -
