Sooooooooooo (oh first of all - hello everyone, I am new here!) my dear cat WS. Who I affectionatlly call Burroughs and not WS most of the time... or Burroughs my Funky Squirrel. hehehe - woke me up at 5 am this morning cuz he was starving.
I have been gone for about 2.5 weeks to Mich. to see my sister. He and his brothers have the best cat sitter in the world. She feeds them and plays with them and sometimes spends the night. Even comes 2 times a day. She loves them.
Anyway - it's my first night back. There is the snubbing - then the super purring from Burroughs, the chirping from Pinita and the constant talking from Winslow.... They jump into bed and snuggle close. Gus is still an hour away at my cousins - it's too late on a Friday night to go and get him and it's raining..so Winslow is a little wierded out.
Then, at 5 am I am awakened by constant pawing, then my forehead is being exfoliated...then my chest walked across...er boobs rather...and I have the worst pms bloatedness. Yeah - Burroughs is hungry. The minute they notice I am awake - constant meowing...crying.
yeah - I'm a sucker. I get up, cause I can't stand the noise and I am trained by the furballs. After the food has been distributed - I go back to sleep. And you know what? When I get up later - I feed the little assholes again.
Sheeshhhhh

Re: 5:00 am
Mon, January 10, 2005 - 9:27 PMBonnie's into the 4am face wash. EVERY MORNING!!!! And since she's got super short fur, she has the 20 grit sandpaper tongue. My forehead is totally breaking out because of that shit. And I can't get away from her. I'll push her off the bed, she'll get back on and lay down next to my head. I'll move my head farther away, she'll scoot closer, until she finally has my entire pillow. I can't even turn my head cause she'll just lick my hair which is even grosser. -

Tue, January 11, 2005 - 6:24 AMgurly saves plastic bags to play with till that hour. I sleep too lightly anyway, I think she's helping me learn to sleep right through noise.
it's zora who will demand I give her some love as the sun comes up. she's hard to resist but sleep usually wins out. -

Re: 5:00 am
Tue, January 11, 2005 - 7:13 AMI can bury my head and ignore the pawing and the jumping on my boobs....but Burroughs is one smart cat. He goes for the tail. Not mine, Gus'. Poor Gus. If I don't get up, he'll chomp on "the drooler's" tail. Gus will yipe, jump up - all 70lbs of him and start licking looking for my face - licking my face frantically. At that point it's all over. I give up. It's food and walk time....then I can go back to bed! (@$%$$#%#)

Re: 5:00 am
Tue, January 11, 2005 - 11:11 AMMy cats start off small. At about 5:30, they position right outside my bedroom door, lay down so their mouths are right against the gap between the door and the room, and then they peep. They mew. They mrow. They slowly escalate until mournful howls fill the room. When that doesn't do anything, they start rubbing their paws frantically against the bedroom door, and then alternate that with the linen closet just outside the bedroom, which has a loose latch that rattles loudly whenever the door is jiggled. Then the ultimate--they start smacking the shit out of the doorknob, which is very noisy in-fucking-deed. They know that opening the door requires a paw on the knob, but they haven't quite mastered the turning motion yet.
About 75% of the time, I successfully ignore this. 25% of the time, I'm quite thoroughly woken up by the racket, get up and feed them. This dismal success rate has been enough to reinforce the cats in their behavior. Which illustrates.... something. -

Re: 5:00 am
Thu, January 13, 2005 - 5:59 PMWe patiently wait and wait and wait until the wab wakes up. Butch tried the whole "wake up the wab when you're hungry" technique when he was a kitten. Then he learned that half-asleep kicks off the bed hurt.
